l Segmented Liposuction
1. Liposuction Surgery on the Arms
The procedure performed on this area is most commonly done for women, and has the highest satisfactory rate of all liposuction procedures. After the surgery, the skin’s elasticity will return to normal, and patients will discover a dramatic change in the shape of their upper arm. The recovery period for this surgery is usually short, and patients are able to take off compression garments, and able to work in two to four days.
2. Abdominal Liposuction
The abdomen is a common area targeted by both men and women.
Some women develop fat deposits in the lower abdomen after giving birth to children. The stretching of the abdominal muscles causes these fat deposits, which occurs during pregnancy. However, liposuction surgery is not enough to cure these areas in women that have given birth, so many surgeons recommend an abdominoplasty paired with the liposuction procedure. After the liposuction procedure, patients will have soreness and tenderness in the abdominal area, which may last up to a month. There are almost no restrictions on a patient’s physical activity following the abdominal liposuction
3. Thigh Liposuction Surgery
The thighs are another common area targeted for liposuction since they are hardly affected by diet and exercise. The thigh is divided into four fat areas:
- Inner thigh
- Outer thigh
- Anterior thigh
- Hip
Most surgeons will not perform liposuction on the entire thigh in one surgery, since there may be severe swelling afterward. If a patient needs the entire thigh liposuction, then the surgeon will break the surgery into two different procedures typically spaced a month apart.
In one surgery, the surgeon will treat the outer thigh and hips area while the anterior thigh, inner thigh, and knee are treated in the next. Liposuction of the entire thigh must be performed in two procedures to reduce the recovery time for the patient. The recovery time for both surgeries is usually a few days to a week.
4. Back Liposuction Surgery
Women are usually the most common victims of excessive back fat, and are the most frequent patients of liposuction in this area.
The back is divided up into five fat areas -
Infra-scapular fat is considered female flanks, which is the area above the waist and below the shoulder blade. Infra-scapular fat is also commonly called bra strap fat.
Posterior auxiliary fat is on the upper back and close to the armpit
Posterior waist fat is located above the hips
Lumbo sacral fat pad, which is in the middle of the back just above the tailbone
The buffalo hump, which is at the top of the back and below the neck.
