Pores

Pores

What is a pore?

A pore is an opening on the skin’s surface.  These openings can either be in the form of a sweat gland, or the base of a hair follicle and sebaceous gland (oil producing). We produce oil naturally to keep skin soft and supple, as well as to keep moisture on the skin to prevent flaking and cracking.

What causes clogged pores?

Pores clog when the natural oil our skin produces (called sebum) mixes with excess dead skin cells on the surface of the skin.  If the mixture completely clogs the pore, it is called a whitehead; if it partially clogs the pore it is called a blackhead.

Once the pore has been clogged, the result is a buildup of sebum under the skin.

Clogged pores are caused mainly by genetics, hormonal swings (puberty or menopause), or environmental factors such as heat, friction and dust that cause the body to produce more oil than necessary

Treatment:

1.    GENESIS

Genesis is a long pulse ND-Yag laser. It takes about 10,000 low laser beams to correct a whole face. The light beam increases the temperature on the dermis causing sebaceous glands to decrease, thus tightens pores. It also accumulates the creation of collagen, promotes skin elasticity and clears skin tone.

Length of Procedure

5 sessions with 2-4 weeks time interval. Takes up to 10-20 mins for a whole face.

Notification

The procedure is performed without anesthesia, therefore may stimulate the skin. The sensation may combine hotness and itchiness. An hour after the procedure, the face may temporarily stay red.

2. FRAXEL

Fraxel laser is for resurfacing. It consist of needles that is 1cm2 and approx. 300-2000 thin laser beams target the areas that cannot be seen through the naked eyes. Areas that have been targeted by the laser (called Microthermal Treatment Zone) brings effective result by penetrating up to the dermis.

 Effect of Fraxel

Fraxel uses micro laser beams that target deep into the microdermal treatment zone. It penetrates thousands of tiny pores bringing a satisfying result.  Unlike dermabrasion, this procedure does require the whole face to peel off resulting the skin to recover in short time.

3.    Mosaic

Approx 300~20000 thin laser beams, about 1Cm2 in size, target and resurface areas that cannot be seen through the naked eyes. The areas that have been exposed to lasers (Micro thermal Treatment Zone) penetrate deep into the dermis increasing the effect of the treatment.

 Mosaic Therapy and its Effect

Micro laser beams search deep into the skin passing through thousands of heated pillars called micro-heat treatment zone regenerating the areas for an effective result.

Although this procedure has short recovery time unlike conventional dermabrasion, in order to gain the same effect as dermabrasion you need to undergo several sessions.

Benefits of Mosaic Therapy

Compare to dermabrasion, short recovery for erythema and gangrene.

Use for:

   - Wrinkles and skin tightening

  -  Scars

Process:

Face cleansing

Anesthesia cream for 30 mins

Design the areas of target

Procedure for 20-40 mins.

10 min relaxation.

4.     Isotretinoin

Recently used for severe acne or cystic nodules this medication showed effective results. Often used to control oily sebum secretion and prevent hardening of the pimples through this mitigating inflammation.

Isotretinoin is a purple medication that is safely prescribed. However, if the lips or oral mucosa becomes dried, or your hands or body starts to peel off and become itchy, visit the nearest doctor.

Moreover, the lipid often rises especially when consumed during pregnancy and this may cause deformity and other side effects. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you do not take this medication during pregnancy, and for a month after you stop taking the medication, it is recommended to avoid possibility of pregnancy.
