l  Non-incisional

Surgery that is natural and non-artificially looking has been a trend just like nude make-up that fools the eyes as if you have no make-up on.

Non-incisional blepharoplasty brings a natural look while incisional blepharoplasty has a benefit in which the eyelid does not fade away over time. Single-knot and sequential-knot has been a topic of interest within Korean women due to its distinctive features in which they bring natural results and do not swell much.

Surgical Method

Single and sequential-knot are created through microscopic holes, about 1-2mm, where several successive lines are stitched creating a tight crease.

It is important that the stitches are made tight both internally and externally adjusting the eyelid.

If done properly, there will be no scars and the swelling will diminish within a short period of time, and most importantly, the result will last long.

Single and sequential-knot also have the benefit in which eyelid fat can be removed during the procedure resulting natural and thin eyelids.

Because the incision is slightly made, there will hardly be any remaining scars.

Advantages

Swelling goes down quickly leaving the face natural and less awkward.

There are no scars since the surgery simply requires making of small holes, therefore, recovery time is also short.

Little holes are made in the areas where fat needs to be removed and after the eyelid skin is tied together with surgical strings.

The eyes will be defined and widened through the surgery.

Also, because this surgery is less severe and does not require incision, you can always reshape the eyes after the surgery.

Aftercare

Make-up and facial cleansing is allowed 3~5 days after the surgery.

Do not rub nor touch the eyes 2~3 months after the surgery.

Also, gently remove the make-up and try to avoid rubbing the eyes when cleansing the face.

l  Minimum/ Partial-incisional

This operation creates a stronger knot and has advantages of a deeper penetration than the single knot, thus the possibility of the break of the knot is lower.  Smaller incision will recover fast, yet some of the symptoms of ptosis correction (correction of eye) like excessive swelling might occur.

After Care

Within 24 hours after surgery in order to prevent bleeding use the ice pack. After that massage will help to lessen the swellings.

Avoid using makeup for 1-2 days, d not rub your eyes when you wash your face.

l  Incisional

The incision is made along the crease lines depending on the condition of the eye: skin, muscles, fat, and connective tissue amount. After that the stitches are made and the skin is fixed, thus the line becomes the eyelid line. The surgery takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes; the thread is removed after 4-5 days. Depending on a person, there might be a difference in the time for the swelling to subside. Approximately after 1-2 weeks the swelling goes down by 70-80 percent, and within 2 months the line takes a natural look.

Cases of the line becoming loose are rare; normally the line stays permanently and looks naturally.

After Care

The recovery period varies depending on each case.  In the best case, the line take a natural look in 1-2 weeks, if the swelling is severe, it might take about 2 months.

Within 24 hours after surgery in order to prevent bleeding use the ice pack, after that massaging will help to lessen the swellings.  Avoid rubbing the operated area and letting water onto the stitches. 3-5 days after surgery, the threads are removed, but avoid letting the water onto the area.

l  Inner/Outer Corner Extension

1.     Inner corner extension

Originally a person who needs this kind of surgery has the inner corner of his eye covered by an excessive skin, thus the eye looks inverted, small and the space between two eyes is wide, which gives the eyes a sharp and narrow look. For a person with an epicanthic-folded eye structure, if will be difficult to proceed with a double eyelid surgery without correcting the epicanthic fold in order to achieve the result of getting a big and naturally looking eye. That is why people who have an epicanthic-folded eye structure have to undergo the corrective eyelid and the double eyelid surgeries together.

In case of extreme eye coverage, as a result of the surgery, there might be a occurrence of a scar in the inner corner of the eye, yet in most cases the scar will diminish in 3 months and then disappears. In case o a big scar occurrence, a light makeup will help to make it invisible and it will not interfere with comfortableness of one’s daily life.

In case of the thick and oily skin, the appearance a visible to eyes scar may happen.

Approximately 2 weeks after surgery, depending on operated area massage is recommended.

2.     Outer corner extension

In case of an eye with a small width, one’s eyes might look like the ones of a frightened rabbit.

Increasing the horizontal width of the inner eye fold or opening of the outer corner are the ways to correct this case.

In case of applying an outer corner extension surgery, the width of the eye can be increased by about 1 ~ 2mm.

This method has an advantage that the eyes will not return to their original look and that the conjunctival area of the eye and the skin will not adhere.
We implement this method in our hospital.

Usually the patient can return to his/her daily routine immediately after surgery, since we use invisible threads that are removed after 5-7 days.
